KARACHI:

The Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani called for a report on Monday from the Sindh Police IG on the alleged illegal occupation of the land of a Hindu temple by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members in Hyderabad.

Earlier, Jillani had taken notice of reports in the media regarding protest by the members of the religious minority against the occupation, and the subsequent sale, of the land of their temple.

The protesters accused certain PPP political leaders of illegally occupying and then selling the land of the temple of Kali Mata for Rs15 million. They had sent complaints to the concerned authorities in the provincial government, but to no avail.

Additional IG Ali Sher Jakhrani submitted that he has called for a report from the Hyderabad DIG over the matter and sought further time to furnish the report by Tuesday. Allowing the request, the SC bench directed him to file the report.
