KARACHI: Pakistani Boxer Muhammad Waseem reached the final of the Commonwealth Games Men’s Flyweight 52 kg event after knocking out Ghana’s Abdul Omar by three-nil at The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) Hall 4A on Friday.

All three judges favored Waseem by awarding him 30 points, over Omer’s 27 in three rounds.

The 26-year-old will now face Australia’s 23-year-old Andrew Moloney at Men’s 52 kg flyweight finals on Saturday.

Even if Waseem loses, the young boxer would be awarded a silver medal, adding to the meager tally of medals for Pakistan.

In the games so far, Pakistan has won three medals; two silvers and one bronze medal.
