KARACHI: Pakistan Wushu Federation (PWF) Secretary Malik Iftikhar Ahmed believes the national squad has the capability of bringing back laurels to the country from international events.

Ahmed said the PWF wants to send a team to the 7th International Wushu Championship (junior, youth, adults) in Tbilisi, Georgia on June 20; however, they are still waiting to be given No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the government.

“Wushu may be a small sport, but we’ve always delivered big results,” Ahmed told The Express Tribune. “Each time our team has competed in the Asian Games, we’ve brought medals. We won a bronze medal in 2007 and then a silver in China in 2010. Our players are capable of performing much better internationally.”

The secretary added that on the local front, the federation was planning to hold a junior championship from June 20 in Jhang.
